The last day of the 1st Marking Period (MP)—also referred to as the end of the first quarter—marks the official end of the first term of the school year.

What to Expect at the End of the 1st MP

• Grades Lock: All assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects for the first quarter are finalized. Teachers typically have a deadline a few days later to submit official quarter grades.

• Report Cards Issued: Unlike interim/progress reports (which happen mid-quarter), the end of the 1st MP results in official 1st Quarter Report Cards.

• Fresh Start: Grades reset to zero for the 2nd Marking Period, giving students a clean slate for the next quarter.
